Is there a train to Essaouira?
No — the rail network stops at Marrakech. Essaouira is road-only, which keeps it pleasantly quieter than its fame deserves. The road itself is easy: flat, fast and lined in its second half with the argan groves where goats genuinely do climb the trees.
Making the drive part of the day
The women's argan-oil cooperatives outside Ounagha are the worthwhile stop — twenty minutes to see the pressing and buy at source. On a private run you stop on your own clock (and for the goat trees when the photo demands it), arriving at Bab Marrakech with your bags carried to the pedestrian medina's edge. Surfers: boards travel free in the right vehicle — say so at booking.
